FAQs

Below you can find the answer to your question.
If you are searching in your language and you are not getting any results, please try in English. The content may not yet be translated.

In most cases, candidates cannot access their application(s) because they have created more than one Single Candidate Portal (SCP) account, linked to different EU Login accounts and they are trying to access their application(s) via the wrong SCP account.

Follow the steps below to identify the correct account and regain access to your application.

Step1: Identify all the EU Login accounts linked to your email address(es)

  • Retrieve the automatic email from the EU Login authentication service that was generated after the creation of your EU Login account. This email contains your User ID, which usually starts with “n00”.

If you cannot find this email:

  • Go to: https://webgate.ec.europa.eu/cas
  • Enter each of your email addresses and click “Next” to check whether an EU Login account exists for that address.
  • If you do not remember your password, click “Lost your password?”
  • If you have several email addresses, repeat this check for each one

Step 2: Once you have identified all your EU Login User IDs:

Remember that each EU Login User ID has its own password and second-factor authentication method. You must therefore use the password and second-factor authentication method associated with the User ID you are using to sign in.

Step 3:

If you still cannot find your application(s), but you still have access to at least one SCP account, please contact EPSO indicating:

  • all your EU Login User IDs and all your email addresses.

If you cannot access the SCP, please use the contact form on our website.

Important

  • Do not create a new EU Login account if you are having trouble finding your application.
  • Do not use eID, Google or Facebook sign-in methods
  • Do not delete any EU Login accounts. Deleted accounts will be permanently lost.
  • For EU Login-related issues, contact the EU Login Helpdesk at Still need help? - European Union

It 's very important to keep a record of the User ID, second-factor authentication and the email address used for your SCP account.

Open competitions (Single Candidate Portal)

If you are an EU staff member and your account was created using a corporate EU login, your personal data is imported from internal HR records (Sysper) and cannot be changed in the Single Candidate Portal.

If you are an external candidate and you created your account using your personal EU Login, you can request changes to your personal data via the “Contact us” menu in your account. All requests must be supported by an official document justifying the change.

Processing may take several days, so we kindly ask you not to submit multiple identical requests. You do not need to wait for the changes to be validated; you can go ahead and continue with your application/test booking.

Contract staff selection procedures (EPSO account)
Click on “Personal data” in your EPSO account and follow the instructions to edit your personal information.

To change your family name (surname), family name at birth, first name, date of birth, or citizenship, you must send a request with a copy of an official supporting document (e.g. passport, ID card, legal document) to EPSO-PERS-DATA@ec.europa.eu.

Once your request has been approved, the updated data will appear in your EPSO account.

Please note that requests may be refused if no supporting document is provided within five days.

Processing may take several days, so we kindly ask you not to submit multiple identical requests. You do not need to wait for the changes to be validated; you can go ahead and continue with your application/test booking.

Note that your validated new personal data will be taken into account for your validated applications.

To check whether your EU Login account is correctly configured, go to your account settings, then proceed as follows:

  • Log in to your account
  • Click on the settings (gear icon) in the upper right corner next to your name.

  • Select "My Account”. There you can find general information about your EU Login, including your unique Identifier and the email address associated with it.

  1. A unique identifier starting with "v00" indicates that your account was created using a third-party sign-in option such as electronic identification (eID platforms like: itsme, SPID, ROeID, DigiD, MitID etc.), Facebook or Google. These accounts cannot be used for the Single Candidate Portal.

  2. If you currently work for an EU institution or body, please refer to the EU Login instructions for EU internal staff.

  3. If you have worked for an EU institution in the past, your EU Login is probably linked to an existing unique identifier.
In this case, if you experience issues creating your Single candidate portal account, please create a new EU Login account using a different email address. You can verify the type of EU login in the “My Account” section of your EU login.

  4. If you have not yet set up a second-factor authentication method (mobile device or trusted platform), your account is not ready to access the Single Candidate Portal. Please add a second-factor authentication method in your EU login profile. Please also read the instructions on how to add a trusted platform.

Ensure that the email address used to create your EU login is a private email address. Using a corporate email may result in loss of access to your EU Login and consequently to the Single Candidate Portal.

For open competitions:

When filling in the application form, you must select the languages in which you want to sit the tests. For most competitions, you will need to choose two different languages (Language 1 and Language 2), in line with the “Languages used in this competition” section of the Notice of Competition (NoC).

You can usually select any two of the 24 official EU languages, so choose the ones in which you will perform best. For linguists’ competitions, specific language requirements may apply. Always check the NoC for the rules applicable to your competition.

Please note that your language choices cannot be changed after the application deadline.

For contract staff selection procedures:

When completing your application form, please note that, in accordance with the Call for expression of interest, you must declare:

  • Language 1: A thorough knowledge (minimum C1 level) of one of the 24 official EU languages.
  • Language 2: A satisfactory knowledge (minimum B2 level) of English, French or German.
Language 2 must be different from Language 1.

Please note that your reasoning tests will be administered in the Language 1 you selected in your application for the specific selection procedure (profile/function group). This may differ from the main language you might have in your EPSO Account.

Language 2 may be assessed by the recruiting service during interviews and/or any further tests organised by the recruiting service.

Choose your languages carefully, as they should be the languages in which you are most likely to perform at your best throughout the selection procedure.

Yes. When applying to open competitions for permanent staff, a pop-up message will appear if mandatory information is missing from your candidate account when you try to start an application.

As explained in the message, before applying, candidates must complete certain mandatory sections of their profile:

  • For all candidates: in “My CV”, at least:
    • two official EU languages in “Language skills”,
    • one entry in “Education and training”,
    • and a copy of a valid identity document.
  • For external candidates only: nationality must be indicated in “My profile”.
  • For internal candidates only: a personal email address must be added in “My profile”.

Once the required information is completed, you will be able to start your application.

We also recommend consulting the step-by-step video tutorial on how to apply for EPSO competitions, which guides you through the entire process, and helps avoid common issues.
